Creating and assigning a new role

General

Gas Detection Connect offers a versatile user and role management. Admins can create individual role profiles to determine access rights and privacy settings for each user group individually.

E.g a Worker can only log in to the GDC App, whereas a health safety engineer has access to the map with all its functionalities. Privacy settings additionally allow protecting personal data (e.g. location on the map or real name).

Step-by-step guide

1) Navigate to Role management

2) Click on + to create a new role

3) Enter role name and description

4) Select the rights to be applied to the role

    • Access rights: Access to the web app at gdc.draeger.com
    • Privacy: Access to seeing workers on the map and their real names (including the event history and asset management table)
    • Reporting: Managing access to email report management
    • Asset Management: Access to device related services
      • Asset provisioning: Ability to switch on and off provisioning service for new devices (X-dock/ConHub)
      • Software Update: Option to start X-dock and ConHub firmware updates
      • ConHub: Access to change ConHub password, location and name
      • X-dock: Access to change X-docklocation and name
      • Delete assets: Ability to delete devices from asset management tables
    • X-dock access level: Settings from None to Level 5 (IMPORTANT: X-dock access level 5 is required to access the X-dock configuration menu and should be assigned to at least one user. There is no default “admin” account on the X-dock when connected to Gas Detection Connect.)
    • User and role management: Managing user and role settings
  • Special Roles that cannot be changed:
    • Administrator: Has full access to GDC. There must be at least one user with the administrator role.
    • Passive User: Has no access to GDC. Accounts can be created without an email address.

5) Save the role with a click on the save icon in the blue bar

6) To edit a role, change the applied rights and click on save

Roles can be assigned when creating a new user and can be added to existing accounts in the User management.
